NEDA established the STAR Program to fight for improved access to treatment of eating disorders by speaking with state legislators, mobilizing members, and forging alliances with other groups who share our vision.
Affordable Care Act: Improving Healthcare for Women
We are all aware that sweeping changes are underway with regards to healthcare in the United States; and that the improvements will likely make a tremedous difference for so many across the country. Women stand to benefit greatly, as a recent report from the Commonwealth Fund details. Women have been a particularly underserved population, often discriminated against simply due to gender. The new reforms aim to eliminate these disparities and extend healthcare coverage to an increasing number of people who had been denied under the previous system.

Eating Disorder Legislation Signed into Law in Missouri
On Friday, July 9th, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon signed legislation into law which will establish a state Eating Disorder Council in Missouri's Department of Mental Health. This landmark law will provide an opportunity for education and prevention efforts in the state.
